Democracy dies in broad daylight.
The U.S. has no apparent need for the CIA anymore. Trump gets Russian intelligence directly from Putin now.
Reporter: Is there any evidence?

Trump: I mean, you're saying maybe the attack didn't take place? It's possible, I guess, but President Putin told me this morning it did.

No security guarantee to Ukraine will be worth the paper it’s printed on. Whether 15 years or 50 years, it doesn’t matter. During his last presidency, Trump violated NAFTA to negotiate USMCA, which he violated in his current presidency.

Anyone following the Trump admin’s mass deportations knows what’s been happening in foreign prisons like CECOT. What’s notable is the full-on Streisand Effect that Weiss accepted as a reputational tradeoff for CBS in her effort to appease Trump so her boss can buy WB.

There’s value in soft power. Cutting off foreign aid and rejecting Africa has the consequence of creating inroads for adversaries. The U.S. is ceding its soft power advantage to China, which will be a hard power advantage when it has military bases everywhere.

The U.S. peace plan is to reward Russia with more land than it has already stolen by force, so it can increase economic ties with Russia and profit from rebuilding efforts. Far from being an ally to Ukraine, the U.S. isn’t even neutral. Trump is an ally to Putin.

This is a pretty crazy explanation. By the same logic, ICE should shoot people for putting their hands up in surrender. Cotton is making a bad faith argument.
WELKER: Isn't it possible that even the act of taking off a t shirt could've been part of an attempt to get attention for help?

TOM COTTON: Or it could've been an attempt to signal to another cartel boat to come pick them up and pick up the cargo

Duffy wagons would only be available in the U.S., because other countries won’t follow the U.S. in lowering fuel standards. And Trump is a lame duck now, making it unlikely that the reduced standards will have any staying power. Auto manufacturers have high risk and low reward to make big changes.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

What could possibly go wrong? Microcars are not feasible in the U.S., because Americans love SUVs, and every vehicle is a bus in comparison. Microcars would be death traps.
CNBC: Trump said he saw microcars over in the Asia -- 'Why don't we have these here?' There are reasons we don't see those vehicles. Will you change the rules so they can be built and driven on highways?

DUFFY: He called me after the meeting and said, 'Let's change the rules.' We're in the process.

Lutnick admits deportations are hurting America’s small businesses. Whether people want to admit or not, population growth is required for a healthy economy. The entirety of the U.S. stock market is oriented around growth. Companies need a to add customers or raise prices. No one invests in flat.
Lutnick: "Remember, as you deport people, that's going to suppress private job numbers of small businesses. But they'll rebalance and regrow."

Lutnick’s argument is ridiculous. Applying the same logic, the US should stop manufacturing all electronics because we lack a sizable rare earths mining industry. The EU has deemed electrification to be critical, so it should build its industrial capacity.
Lutnick on the EU: "Another example -- they rule out diesel gas and you gotta have batteries here by 2035. But Europe doesn't make batteries! Only certain countries make batteries and Europe is not one of them. They gotta think better about themselves ... come on! Think correctly."

Trump's prioritization of speed in policy and of personal devotion in officials make it all inherently brittle, and compound the regime durability problems presented by his age.

It's hardly laudable, but: much of the acquiescence we see isn't adoption of his goals, it's waiting him out.
November 23, 2025 at 3:38 PM
I agree that we could all benefit by being nicer to each other, but Duffy ignores the obvious. The travel experience has gotten much worse over several decades: smaller seats, fewer amenities, TSA lines, long wait times in planes for airline metrics, and no airline accountability for the experience.
Duffy: "Trump talks about the golden age of transportation. But the golden age in transportation truly begins with you ... People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly ... so we want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season: Help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"
