If you see a whale, report it immediately so it can be tracked and nearby vessels can be alerted:

Go slow, keep a lookout, and assume whales are below!

With our murky Central Florida waters, it’s impossible to overstate how important it is for boaters to stay alert. Whales can be nearly invisible just below the surface, surfacing unpredictably for breaths. Any splash or disturbance on the water should be treated as a potential whale.

I spotted this apparent juvenile off Melbourne Beach earlier today. Based on other recent sightings, I suspected it might be a humpback, but I still approached it as if it were a right whale—keeping my distance. I’m far away on purpose, I’m not directly over the whale, and I’m using optical zoom.

The colors were perfect as the sun was setting, but the timing on that pompano and the water against my lens was just luck!

That’s the beauty of photography is getting to see things you otherwise wouldn’t. It’s a big world! Thanks for the follow!

I’m really enjoying the platform! Works like social media in the early 2010’s before it was ruined by greed and bots.

And thank you!

Very real, I did some (light) backscatter removal but otherwise minimal post-processing.
