Yes, this is what the "people on govt help are lazy moochers" folks just don't get: Most people just need a hand to get back on their feet, and most people end up paying back far more $ in taxes & SS than they use.

5/x...Most people on any kind of govt support only need it for a limited period, and it usually helps people get over hard times until they can get back on their feet.

The people on it long term usually really need it long term.

Taking benefits away from the poor & needy is pure evil imo.

4/x...I was briefly on food stamps as a young man starting out, but since then, I've been paying taxes for 30+ years. I wouldn't be surprised if I've paid back in to SS every penny I received as a kid by this point.

I credit SS Survivor's Benefits as a major reason for my current success.

3/x...My sister and I both now have very lucrative jobs in the health care sector, she is an ultrasound technician and I'm an Epic EHR Analyst working for one of the biggest healthcare systems in Oregon.

2/x...and not to have to get a job and ship us to daycare every day. My mom was eventually able to get a nursing RN degree when we were teenagers, and she had a very successful nursing career until she retired about 10 years ago.

My sister and I received SS Survivor benefits after my dad died when I was 4 years old and my sister was 6.

We received these benefits until we were 18. These benefits allowed my Mom to be able to take care of us kids as a single Mom in the 70s... 1/x
