Sitting here in the living room of my father in laws house. He recently received an unsolivited phone call for house projects. His response was "yes we need chimney work, two nights ago santa was too big to get get our chimney and we need it be larger". The soliciter was not super happy.

So so pleased that we here in the northern hemisphere will wake up tomorrow and the amount of day light will increase. Don't know if it is just getting older, but for some reason it feels like it has been darker this year.

Today is the 10th anniverary of our adoption of our child becoming official. A child who came home from the hospital with us when he was 3 days old and then spent 6 months waiting for paperwork as we were anxious the mother would change her mind. Thankfully he will soon turn 11.

That is because everyone wants to work on / ship new, not clean up the messes left by others or retire technical debt.
Like I've said before, if I announce a tech talk with the title: "Using machine learning and LLMs, we increased revenue 10% by $XB! Here's how we did it!" Everyone wants to attend! Standing room only!👍🏿
But if I say, "We increased revenue 20% by $XB by improving accessibility" everyone tunes out.🤷🏿♂️

This is a good thread from @jay.bsky.social on why there’s no block button on here yet. Just a reminder how complicated it can be rolling out a seemingly simple product features and how much thought goes into this stuff!
this is not true — jeromy was not here for the decision to do mutes and not blocks. the team was just 4 people then, and we did mutes and not blocks because the federation architecture was not finished, and blocking requires cooperation across all entities in a network

Since I still look at twitter a lot it seems like there are a large number of people that I follow who keep getting other twitter users telling them to quit twitter and come here. The trolling is non-stop.

Normally when I watch the Golden state warriors play I am on twitter. Tonight while watching I did not touch twitter at all, I missed some of commentary but the lack of the extra twitter BS just to see what I wanted was liberating. Thanks bsky team
