The B.C. NDP and B. C. Greens worked together on the initiative through their co-operation and responsible governance accord agreement. Rob Botterell, Saanich North MLA representing the Greens, said clawbacks put up roadblocks and he’s glad they’re ending.

My former NDP MP colleague Don Davies brought the voices of the National Disability Network and 900k+ disabled Canadians to Parliament. Bill C-4 lowers taxes—but also reduces disability tax credits. The NDP is calling on all parties to fix this before it becomes law. #FIXIT

Most disabled people who can't work and rely on government support just want enough money so we can pay our bills and rent, get groceries, do laundry, get a haircut, buy our medications and devices and look after our support animals properly with some left over to get clothes or replace things.

The current level of monthly support is $1535/month and under - depending on shelter status, co-financial support partners, special dietary needs, etc.

The current MBM is $2066.88/month (2024) & LICO is $2448.33/month (2024)

Our collective focus is on bringing an END to imposed poverty of disabled citizens in B.C. by getting the Provincial government to provide monthly disability income support EQUAL to the official poverty level of Canada - either MBM (market basket measure) or LICO (Low income cut off).
