The airliner wasn't shot down. It was a test of new russian airliner speed hole technology. The test was successful. The airliner unfortunately caught fire for other reasons after safely impacting the ground. All passengers were alive when it took off.

When I moved home to NZ from the US after loving there for a couple of years I had this feeling of utter relief. No more worry about insurance. No more worry about South Side Chicago shootings near my apartment. People don't have to live that way. It's not good for the soul!
