I was compelled by a similar disgust/anxiety recently. I have to say, though, cleaning up and restoring this thing scratched an itch in my brain that I never knew I had.

I was working on my novel, reading aloud a section I had just written, and looked over to see my partner’s dog looking at me like this. I’ll take it as an endorsement.

I think we might be on the cusp of a Sword & Sorcery revival in the small press sphere. Only this new wave will be even stranger and more genre-bending. Sam Richard and Matthew Mitchell’s upcoming Red of Tooth and Claw is one such work. Poetic, bizarre, grotesque, perverse, you can’t miss this one.
