It’s been a while since we’ve done a mailbag, so reply here with your questions for us to answer on Thursday’s episode! Offseason, 25-26 season, Sabres/hockey history, league-wide, non-hockey, etc. whatever it is, send it our way!

Yet again, Kevyn Adams failed to act with any urgency this offseason. While Byram returning isn’t the worst, it’s another example of him fundamentally not being able to execute the moves needed to propel this team forward, even when he has 1 year left on his contract. (1/2)

Then today, we released a new episode covering the JJ Peterka trade, why it feels disappointing, how Kesselring and Doan will fit into the lineup, the reports that have come out in the aftermath, the front office, and more.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Bowen Byram’s name is out there as someone who may be on the move. Minnesota & Los Angeles are two teams that make a ton of sense to us to engage in trade talks with.

We discuss that, plus there still being no coaching changes, the goalie market, Amerks, & more on today’s ep.

Tomorrow is the annual benefit concert I co-organize in honor of my late sister. It’s also my new band’s first show and all proceeds go to a great local mental health center on the East Side. It’s almost sold out so grab a ticket before they’re gone: www.eventbrite.com/e/the-concer...

I basically never post on my blog these days, but here's something I felt like writing about a week spent like so many others in my neighborhood: thehungrydogblog.wordpress.com/2025/04/04/r...
Rebirth: A Week in the Hertel Corridor
It’s early on a Sunday morning, but it feels almost like a Monday. I’m a little hungover, and I’ve got this anxious feeling I usually only get the morning after a rare Sunday Funday. While I’m look…

James Reimer has seemingly taken the starting job from UPL. While we’re against the Sabres fully running it back, goaltending is one area where they REALLY can’t afford to.

Plus the win over Ottawa, why this hot stretch isn’t what it seems, what it may mean for the offseason, & more on today’s ep!

In an out-of-the-ordinary turn of events, Terry Pegula joined the Sabres on their recent Central Division trip. Could it be a sign that the heat is turning up & change is on the horizon this offseason? We discuss that plus the win over the Jets, McLeod continuing to be awesome, & more on today’s ep.

Moving a detainee around to evade judicial review is classic authoritarian behavior.
The government claims Mahmoud Khalil was already in NJ on his way to Louisiana by the time his habeas petition was filed—an argument that the NY federal court lacks jurisdiction.

But Khalil's lawyer checked the ICE locator when she filed and even 4 hrs after, and he was listed as still being in NY.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.
re the previous repost: if they can disappear permanent residents they can disappear citizens

The Cozens-Norris trade made waves as a much needed core-shaking move, but where does Norris fit long term with the Sabres?

We welcomed @sabremetrix.bsky.social back to the pod to recap the deadline, all of the Sabres’ moves, Zucker re-signing, & take a look ahead to the offseason.

It’s trade deadline week & we’re both in the camp that the much needed BIG moves should wait until the offseason. Not only is it a better time for hockey trades but also do we want these moves made in a lost season when there may be a new GM in a few months?

New episode out now!
