It’s getting dark around here. Hoping to add my flickering flame. Let’s light up the world.

Advent mirrors our world right now.

The hope of something better

Waiting.

The slow simmering mess.

Hard truths.

Tiny glimmers of light look brighter when set against the darkest night.

A light is poised to break open this present darkness.

I believe God is stooping down with a better way.

Sunoco’s attention-grabbing flags match the company logo. Yet today, I found their eye-catching flapping to be an unanticipated joy. The colors of bravery and resilience. These days, I am grateful for all the sweet moments that help to refill me with a goodness that feels like hope. #bebrave #resist

The planet is warming, eradicated illnesses are making a comeback, the last nerve of all adults in the room is frayed beyond recognition, and now our education system is under attack. Not a banner time to be a child in the US. Give them love and some extra quality time. They need it and so do you.

As the mask keeps coming off and things start feeling more dystopian, just remember that the oppressor thrives off of our cynicism and hopelessness. Surround yourself with people who not only still believe a better world is possible, but that are actively building one through intentional actions.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Let’s close doors that lead to dark alleys and open windows to let in the warmth of the sun. Enough already with spotlighting and normalizing ugly underbellies. I hope some of the critters which have recently crawled out from under their rocks will find the collective light too inhospitable.
