Two forces at play here: 1. Some experts want their audience to believe that they have inside knowledge, so they pretend they do 2. When this kind of thing happens, confirmation bias insures that people remember it and not all of the other times that it didn't

Ben Wikler is very good. As an active NC Dem, the disconnect between the national party and the state party is a real problem. Outsiders come into this state with bad ideas and worse execution. A national chair who's open to input from smart people on the ground like Anderson Clayton would help.
