Scum & Villainy was like close to exactly the dream game I wanted, but there were just enough changes that homebrew tweaks alone didn't make it what I wanted.

I decided to read a couple dozen similar themed games, but none were thar dream. So I had to build my own.

A friend has been making one and I was shocked thinking it was simply too big. But you really do just need a theme that inspires you and the core actions/skills/moves and classes/feats/playbooks to get started playtesting and iterating. It made it feel possible but still too big. Until...

Going out to do and watch some local Improv theater and supporting them and the businesses hosting. It definitely feels good to help out what little I can.

Playing in PF2e's Season of Ghosts Adventure Path, it's cool to see your very small home-village is the primary location. It's a really interesting change of perspective compared to the classic globe trotting heroics

100% agree. I will only take a look at a rule set if the premises impresses me. And saying that you are the 1000th universal system that can do all gameplay and genre isn't going to appeal to me personally. I want the rules to shape and scaffold the game with an interesting theme.

My favorite game on Travel is probably Starforged (Sci Fi Successor to Ironsworn). Its basically a Point Crawl where you progress by facing interesting events along the way. Then you roll to determine how it went, which is interesting to see if you get complications. But yeah system matters here.

Heart the City Beneath has this kind of idea built in. More to make it easier to travel than actual fast travel. But for that game, it makes sense given its a game about Delving through a megadungeon all the time.

This is amazing. I definitely want to help in whatever small way I can too. I'll be portioning more of my (likely shrinking) hobby fun-funds to support smaller creators in the field.

Reminds me a little of Dramatica Writing Theory with various Archetypes to provide a complete look at varying perspectives. The fun gets as you mix these commonly grouped elements to other combinations. Like the Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz is logical like Leia but uncontrolled in their actions.
