Also just tactically it's a bad idea to tear down the institutions which are by far the biggest factories of left/liberal-minded americans. The right know this and it's why they want to gut higher ed

I think the left critique of higher ed often unfortunately veers into this territory. Like yes college is too expensive and some of these institutions are run like hedge funds but the education they provide is fundamentally valuable in ways both tangible and not

The film doesn't condemn Christianity. But it does explicitly state it was forced on black people unlike Blues music. The pivotal scene near the end sets up music at the film's heart in opposition to the church when Sammie refuses to let go of his broken guitar. It's all in there pretty plainly

A popular tactic lately from liberal pundits with something to sell (see the Abundance bros) is to embrace a right wing critique of the left in order to be seen as nonpartisan and clear eyed.

The pundits doing this are opportunistic cowards with all the moral clarity of a weather vane

Great example of bad art. It's just a sequence of images that someone thought looked cool. The constraints imposed by a normal creative process discourage that kind of incoherent maximalism. To do something similar without AI also requires collaboration which can curb a creator's worst impulses
