These bills are an attack on trans children meant to remove them from public life and keep them from growing into flourishing adults. Requiring trans youth to participate on teams that do not align with their identity is the same as banning them from athletics entirely.

Our elected reps continue to put trans people at risk. Tomorrow, the CA Assembly will consider bills AB89/AB844. AB89 reverses a law allowing trans students to participate in sports aligning with their identity. AB844 requires the CA Interscholastic Federation to bar trans girls from girls sports.

We also recognize the disproportionate rate at which our trans siblings experience poverty, violence, and discrimination. To protect trans rights is to protect all human rights.
