ASPR’s big emergencies thus far have been self-imposed. In one instance, Knox, after a vaccine-motivated mass shooting, demanded CDC staff meet with him to answer for why an emergency hotline had gone offline for 15 minutes… while terrified staff were sheltering in place.

After ASPR's career chief medical officer resigned in April, Dr. Steven Hatfill, a Covid contrarian, was brought in to replace him. Hatfill supported stockpiling hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin and advised on cutting mRNA vaccine funding.
