It’s been nearly 8 years since I attended the science march in our nation’s capital. It’s disheartening, to say the least, that things have only gotten worse since then. The fight never stops!

What makes submarine pitchers so effective?

I used to think they released the ball closer to home plate, but that is wrong!

They make up for a lack in velocity with deception and spin.

A normal fastball has backspin, but a submarine fastball rotates forward and toward the pitching arm side.

Okay #SpaceSky (are we calling ourselves that?), what are our thoughts on Jared Isaacman as the next Administrator of NASA?

This is a failed attempt at reciting the Pythagorean theorem, which applies to right triangles, not isosceles triangles. A more accurate description would be to say, the hypotenuse of a right triangle squared is equal to the sum of the the squares of the other two sides.

Are electric vehicles better for the environment even if their electricity comes from coal or natural gas power plants?

Yes, electric vehicles are significantly more efficient than internal combustion engines and contribute to far fewer carbon emissions than their gas counterparts.

Physics Problem of the Day: You pour yourself a cup of coffee but need to wait 10 minutes to drink it. You want the coffee to remain as hot as possible. Is it better to pour the milk in right away or to wait the 10 minutes before pouring the milk?

Answer: While it may be intuitive to think both sides have to weigh the same, balance is actually achieved by equal moments.

For both moments to be equal, the side with the shorter length must weigh more than the side with the longer length.

Therefore the side with the bristles is heavier.
