🧪We also showcased MMC application by synthesizing an epoxy thermoset, achieving high-performance resins (Tg of 126°C) and excellent thermal resistance 5% weight loss temperature (Td5%) of 293°C in air.

🎯We demonstrated that acidic Beta zeolites in hot water enable high selectivity (>80%) of 4-ethylsyringol (MSyr) to 4-methyl-6-methoxycatechol (MMC). Unlike the other acid catalysts, beta zeolites suppress over-demethylation toward catechols, due to their unique pore structure.

We presented a novel approach for valorising #lignin-derived syringols via single selective #ODM toward a new class of bio-derived phenols, methoxy catechols, with potential applications for polymers, anti-oxidants, and pharmaceuticals. Herein, we focused on thermosets.
