I will do a serious profile at some point. Network stuff at GÉANT (with an É), platypus maintenance, and appreciation of lengthy words in any language (except for verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel)
QCI days in Athens in the final stretch - inspiring event, it's a community with lots of energy and smart people, taking Quantum Key Distribution to the next level (?? super secure encryption for data sharing!!)

Not all slides are easy to absorb though (this one from an impressive multidomain demo)

Have you ever given someone 8.5 Terabytes of collision data as a present?

Got to love this brilliant upcycling by CERN (tape is a very efficient way to long-term store data, but they also keep upgrading technology, so out with the old...)

A web of networks doing multi-path 800 Gbps data transfer between Japan and US - using 10 different 100G routes. That is a _lot_ of data, and on this kind of topology a real achievement.

It's nice to be at a conference - Internet2's TechEx in Boston - and not need to do a presentation.

Still a lot of talking, but, but, but, I also spent more time listening to talks, picking up stuff in the varied program.

The one I will remember: FinOps!

The doors got fixed, so we can start.

It's nicely busy for the #geant CTO workshop. Lots of interesting stuff happening with networks, we build on each other and with each other, and getting a feeling for where things go, and what really matters. Good stuff.

Door locks are being fixed, so people can get into the room, and don't feel trapped once they're in.

Very technical prep for our CTO workshop later this week ;-)

"incidents" like this demonstrate the need for very solid resiliency in backbone networks

This year we have seen unavailability through flooding, fires, farmers, fishers, and well, this kind of thing? Generally we've been managing through, but it's a reminder...
