17. Inazuma Eleven (beaten Nov. 15; beat time: 26:26). This might be a first for me: a sports RPG! Kid-friendly, but not at all patronizing, and very Level-5, in a good way. It has its imperfections, but even so, it's not hard to see why this series became such a phenomenon

42 volumes is a lot of books!

Gonna wrap up two major Shonen Jump series soon! My Hero Academia will be the longest #manga I've ever read start-to-finish 😯

A little miffed that Red River omnibus 5 came with a bent corner, but in general, Kinokuniya is better at shipping books than Right Stuf was #lootpics

We had an important errand to run early this morning, so we stopped at a fancy Italian bakery to pick up breakfast on the way home 😋

Today is another good day ✨ #manga #lootpics

Autumn best season 🍁

This is just the series I'm currently reading (plus Maison Ikkoku, Cat Girl Nuku Nuku, and Ouran; minus Akira hardcovers) 😅 #manga

Here's the batch I ordered thanks to that stock update! @bitprophet.bsky.social likes them too, so I picked up Hayahide, Vodka, King, and Flash for him (I've warmed up to Flash since then, thanks to the new banner). I've been displaying these as we scout them in-game 🐎

16. Etrian Odyssey Nexus (beaten Oct. 31; beat time: 120:22:22, Expert difficulty). A love letter to Etrian Odyssey fans. If the phrase, "A small crevice is visible in the wall before you. However, it appears to be impassable from this side," gives you a nostalgic feeling, play this game

If you see this, post an album cover with a car (truck, motorcycle, tractor) on it.
#weirdcarbs

Conveniently enough, this is also one of my favorite #VGM albums (and VGM album covers) ever

Finally, I want to highlight Steve Oliff's beautiful coloring work in the Epic Comics edition, and show some comparisons to the original black and white pages. I really hope the full color version gets rereleased in English someday

Speaking of which, did you notice that the sound effects were drawn differently in each edition? This is the case throughout! I somehow never noticed this before...

The first time I was really taken aback by how *different* the art looked unflipped was the middle panel of this page, showing a closeup of the Doctor's face during a dramatic moment. This particular panel has long lived rent-free in my head, so it wasn't a surprise that this happened

On to Vol. 2 proper. The Epic edition had two recap pages in its vol. 4, while the Dark Horse one has a single page. The Kodansha hardcover is practically luxurious with four full pages of recap! Also luxurious: the hardcover's end papers

AKIRA THREAD CONTINUES; sorry for the delay!

A slighter tangent first, though. Fool Night had a panel in Vol. 4 with a floor pattern reminiscent that in the nursery in Akira. Did a quick comparison; it's not exact, but close! Along with the toys and tiny TV, this has gotta be a deliberate homage

My final pending #gunpla and #plamo order has arrived! Now I see why MS General's Sloth kit (the complete set with the rhino) had its own tracking number lol orz

Sloth's box is even bigger than Greed's, which was my personal previous record holder for biggest plamo box 😅 #lootpics

Took this one this morning. Old lady babby in the foreground mysteriously lost a tooth over the weekend 🥲

15. Disgaea 5 Complete (beaten Oct. 25; beat time: 53:54:45). Decent story, great cast & maps, & the usual Disgaea zaniness. Too many customization options and side activities, though; felt there were at least twice as many facilities in the main hub as usual. Good, but needed a touch more elegance
October 26, 2025 at 1:24 AM
14. Live A Live (beaten Sept. 25; beat time: 25:16:19). Felt like Squaresoft's answer to Earthbound. Tonally inconsistent (fart jokes in one tale, serious drama in the next), with a really good battle system. A visually pretty remake of a weird and memorable RPG, plus another Yoko Shimomura OST!

Slight tangent: ordered some Dragon Ball vols. at the same time. They were on sale, and I wanted to finally read the Red Ribbon Army arc. This is the 5th ed. of Dragon Ball in this household, none of which are complete 🙃

Akira Vol. 2 is here! In this installment:
- Neo-Tokyo is about to... be still intact
- The title character appears?!
- Thrilling action atop the most famous freight elevator in pop culture history

Also, I'll be able to compare *three* different editions this time! Stay tuned...

This looks so pretty but I shouldn't (especially since I have her original color scheme in my backlog...) #plamo
