Puerto Ricans don’t want to be a state. In the last plebiscite 620,000 voted for statehood, that’s about 20% of the population.

That’s ignorant. WWII didn’t end with negotiation, it ended when the Russians put the red flag on the Reichstag and the Germans surrendered and when the US dropped atom bombs on Japan. WWI ended when the allies told the Germans “this is what you have to do, take it or leave it.” And they stopped.
