Art upgrade in progress! I spent the last few days adding a ton of visual variety to the ground. You're looking at three new tilesets with four variants each. All randomized to stop that "copied-and-pasted" feeling. Huge step for the overall vibe.

Do it anyways! You can (surprisingly) do quite well even with programmer art. A touch of color theory and a little post processing. Worked for games like Thomas Was Alone. You got this!

Rewatched Catch Me If You Can. Forgot all about the opening title sequence. This style would make a really cool style for a video game. Adding this to my inspiration list.

Final polish pieces. Screen shake, volume controls, working level select screen, a touch of post processing.

Just a few minor audio tweaks and I think it's nearly there. For a 2 week project, I'm pretty darn happy with this one.

Day 12 - Super Smash Bros. Melee

Discovered Melee in college. Blew my mind seeing players take it to the extreme. Got me into competitive gaming and tournaments.

The kids had a blast—laughing, building, and turning the yard into a snowy playground.

Arranged level progression logically. Shaped the rooms so it guides the player a little. Doesn't look so empty anymore.

It's feeling so darn good. Feeling really happy with this one.

Day 11 - Final Fantasy VII

My first FF. The story pulled me in—bigger, deeper, and more emotional than anything I’d played before. And the music! Uematsu lives in my head rent-free.

Started brainstorming level design on #Twitch stream. Tried to teach the player new mechanics in a logical way. Also learn for myself what I can do with the components.

(Puzzle design is WAY harder than you might think!)

Day 24/25 of #100DaysOfGameDev

All (known) bugs fixed. Feels really damn good now.

Added basic scene transition logic, a few basic levels, and a level select menu.

All the pieces should now be in place! Time to spend the next week polishing and making things look better.

Day 10 – Conker's Bad Fur Day

14 old Brainfart LOVED this game. My first "adult" game. Hilarious, crude, surprisingly emotional. The ending hit hard—games can be funny and heartfelt.

Fixed the death/respawn system. Added in some checkpoints. Placeholder audio added in. And you can't see it here, but the camera movement is now bound to "rooms".

Still some bugs, but making great progress.

Day 9 – Donkey Kong 64

Similar to Banjo. The sheer scope, five playable Kongs, endless collectibles. Kept me hooked. Its still inspires me to aim big in my own projects.

Added another laser type, a nifty button trigger, and the death/respawn system. Still primitive, but it's already starting to feel like a game.

Just a few minor systems left for now, then onto polish and basic level design.

Day 1 - Double Dribble

Absolute first game I ever remember playing. My uncle handed me a controller. The screen lit up, and I disappeared into another world. I never really came back.

Under the weather, but still showed up and did the work.

Started on the initial tilemap today. I do NOT consider myself a pixel artist. That said, I'm quite happy with this!

A bit repetitive, but the basics are there. Should be able to make variations to break that up.
