Setting out today on a road-trip with the prototype 'Crystal-A-Con in a box', all you need to keep 50 exciable primary school kids #Crystallographically entertained and informed for an hour at a time??? Wish us luck!!

Very different - They are crystal model kits! They come with enough atoms (an instructions) to make a diamond, lonsdalite, buckyball or sodalite structure. You can find lots more info on the website! braggyourpattern.com/crystal-expl...

The first 50 Crystal Explorer Kits are packaged and off to the post office! Long day yesterday getting the sets finalised, but very exciting to get the first lot out of the door.

We've made a teaching booklet to explain how to make four structures with the sets, and plans for more on the website (BraggYourPattern.com), we are now aiming to send these kits out to Primary (elementary) Schools in regional and remote parts of Aus and NZ. 15 sign ups already!

The structure took many days to put together, and a small amount of time to tear apart. But that was not the end - the structure has now painstakingly separated into atoms and bonds and put into ~750 Crystal Explorer Kits

Anyone go to the beach over the Easter weekend? Lots of quite calming patterns to find, where sea meets shore.

Ripple patterns in the sand of a beach in the North Atlantic. There are two types of pattern overlaid with each other, vertically (up the beach) there are long ridges of sand, probably from the waves. Horizontally there are short lines in between the wave lines. They are interspersed with a small amount of seaweed
