Chad, did you notice the player in the mural behind McCollum's shoulder during this interview? I know he's not expected to be on staff, but considering all the talk among the fan base about Gatens, I couldn't help but chuckle at that while watching the video.

Lots of screening trying to force an over, get two on the ball, then cut to open spaces. Force collapses, kicks, cuts. Check out this film breakdown if you are really curious. youtu.be/hk3nhaPJPgg?...

I’d expect Grant McCasland to be who Texas would target.

Karma. Auburn was a 9 seed playing in Birmingham, AL 2 years ago.

We will probably be able to talk to him no later than this Sunday. I love what he's been doing at Drake - but beating Mizzou and Texas Tech back to back to make it to the 2nd weekend is probably asking a bit much for this roster.

Well - it’s also never really been a thing in MBB. There hasn’t been an Iowa MBB coach with ties to the program/state when they were hired since Dick Schultz.

He’s been on record multiple times saying the offense changes every year depending on strengths of the players. He has said it’s slower this year in part because they only really have two shooters. Instead of having bad shooters chuck it up they slow it down to keep probing.

Partially true - but your new coach won't leave until THEIR season is over. So, if Iowa wants DeVries or McCollum, there is no harm waiting in moving off Fran in the days between the B1G & NCAA tourney. Just be working behind the scenes with agents and pounce as soon as the others are knocked out.

Thelwell looks like his ankle is still bothering him. Traore was giving no effort early - running around with no plan, not playing D. Not sure on Tadjo - could be worth a few minutes. Though Brauns was playing hard in the 1st half.

I’m intrigued by Gatens. He’s always had a little aura about him - like he’ll be a good HC someday. A real personable guy. And considering how connected his family is with big donors, I do wonder if he could increase NIL support. I’m just not quite sure he’s ready for that role yet.

Tim Miles actually crossed my mind last night. Nebby is a tough job and he had them competitive. I wondered what he was up to now. He is at San Jose State and it is decidedly not going well. Year 4 there and he is 41-65 overall, 13-41 in conference.

Wake is having a good year - but not sure Forbes moves the needle. He’s about to turn 60 and has only coached in one NCAAT game (to be fair, they would have been in Covid year as well - but still). He’s only mentioned because he is from Iowa.
