He just despised Austen’s works and was quite vocal about it. I believe it was in a letter to one of his friends he said “Everytime I read 'Pride and Prejudice' I want to dig her up and beat her over the skull with her own shin-bone.” To this day it makes me laugh. When he hated, he hated deeply.

So true! Sticks and stones may not break our bones but Twain’s words would surely hurt us. Anytime I think of Twain, I cannot help but think about his beef with Jane Austen.

This book broke my heart reading. Knowing good and well that this duology was prolly the last new content we would get in his lifetime. I was getting choked up by the end.
