Rowi kiwi are only found in Ōkārito forest. There's only around 450 left. Unlike some other kiwi species, male and female rowi both take turns incubating their eggs.

These Northland Green Geckos play an important role in the forest. Their Conservation Status is at Risk - Declining.
94 percent of reptile species here have this status or worse. Yet the government has cut the conservation budget by 46 million.

The wallabies are killing the forest on Kawau Island. They've eaten all the undergrowth, and as the old trees die, there's nothing to replace them.
