Hey Bryan. Do you have, or know where to find, historical week by week clinching scenarios? I know there is a site with week by week standings, but it doesn't include playoff seeding.

Yeah. Anecdotally, I feel like there used to be more scoreboard watching situations in the final week, which was great. Now they are just hoping for one or two elimination games for the night slots.

I get it but I also hate that it guarantees a bunch of meaningless divisional games when 2/3 of the league is out of playoff contention. I don’t have another suggestion though.

I have never really liked that the final week is all divisional games but I think maybe it has all been worth it for this.

When I watch 80s games I am shocked by how loose the definition of a catch was. But they have really over done it these days.

Hilarious attempt at blocking from Fries

I know Addison had the ball in his hands, but are we sure that is where JJM meant to throw the ball? I thought he waited too long and it should have gone over the top. Curious what you think.

Lots of great live youtube videos of the Mavericks. Unbelievable singer.

Is this another way of saying standings have changed more from 24 to 25 than previous years?
December 11, 2025 at 8:21 PM
Wow! AFC West won a lot of games that year.

Are the 85 Seahawks even close? They were 8-8 but had a good SRS.

How much did that one play swing this?

Best player who is not in, I think.

Intentional grounding rules completely lack logic

With the way the schedules are done I sort of like it as. But mostly I think eight divisions is the issue. Four teams is not worthy of distinction.

Easier in what sense? It is still the top 50 or so quarterbacks in the world who make it, and there are probably more people in competition to be in those spots than there were in 1990. If the hypothetical is that he grew up in the 80s, he would be used to how the game was played then, no?

Are the any of these teams close on that list... Moon Oilers, Buddy Ryan Eagles, Marty Chiefs? Once you get through the 70s have to think Rams and Vikings pop up there.
January 27, 2025 at 9:43 PM
It’s a bizarre method, in retrospect. I think the 70-71 Vikings were the 1 and played the 2.

Wikipedia says conference record. I did not check myself.

I see 1980 SD as #1 seed? They did not play lowest seed because NFL avoided intra-divisional matchups. Same thing in 1983.
