I've seen stories about how DeepSeek is upending expectations of rising demand but is that what the market's saying? Maybe things evolve further, but right now most of these stocks are back to… early January levels.

A correction, sure, but doesn't seem like the big picture has hugely changed. No?

Good breakdown from Rystad of what's currently in the U.S. offshore wind pipeline. Projects that have gone through final investment decision (yellow) are probably ok, although that's not 100% certain.

Projects in green still face risk. Projects in blue that don't yet have permits, high risk.

One interesting dynamic. You used to see individual energy trade groups lobbying to save their own narrow tax credits. Wind industry for the PTC, solar for the ITC, etc.

But the tech-inclusive nature of the IRA means the big trade groups are banding together: www.nytimes.com/2025/01/07/c...

One curious twist in the rules — if states have hard emissions caps or clean electricity standards, then hydrogen developers don't need to fret about the additionality requirement for procuring power.

Among other things, a small federal incentive for states to ratchet up their climate policies, no?

Obviously it’s still early days for AI — no one expects a huge data center surge to materialize all in one year. But interesting.

Also, a 1.8% increase in demand sounds small, but the U.S. hasn’t seen sustained load growth at that rate since the 1990s: gridstrategiesllc.com/wp-content/u...

Sounds here like a permitting reform deal was never really that close at the end of last Congress — key House Republicans and a few big electric utilities weren’t on board with the provisions to make it easier to build transmission: subscriber.politicopro.com/article/eene...
