That's actually kinda true, but not because the courts got ahead of society. More because abortion was almost entirely a catholic issue until evangelicals needed a reason to feel good about themselves to make up for their support of segregation.

I was wrong about how most Americans felt about Trump. I knew he had a devoted fan base.
But I thought people who didn't pay attention to politics would have been fed up with him and eager to never see or hear from him again.
