Hard to believe it’s already been two years since I finished my master’s. I am grateful for the mentors, field days, and late nights that shaped where I am today.

What are the effects of tagging on fishes? 🐟

Our review + meta-analysis explores intracoelomic tagging effects in fishes. We summarize the existing literature and examine the 2% rule using evidence from a broad representation of all published studies.

Just came across this method from 1970: researchers used a periscope-like device frozen into the ice to watch fish under the surface. Such a clever way to study winter ecosystems! 🐟❄️ From Magnuson & Karlen (1970).
