This is a point that many of commentators, journalists miss, that Nato has always been a two-way street designed to give the US a controlling interest in Europe and, of course, there are the lucrative arms deals benefitting US weapons companies.

Oh, they’ll still be in place. People were definitely bribed. CIA still there. And some talk of Mossad involvement by former CIA men. But as one former US soldier put it Maduro kidnap was not a triumph for US force of arms.

Dear JS. Could you have a word with Mr Justin Webb and ask him to leave his personal agenda at the studio door. I’m getting rather tired of him and his fellow Today presenters giving their views. And, in BBC bulletins, the raid on Caracas was described constantly as dramatic, a redundant adjective.
