It was about this time, a week ago, that I said goodbye to my father for the last time. He had already slipped away, quietly, painlessly, as he slept. After so many months and so many years of decline, the end came suddenly, almost unexpectedly.

Into the mists of Mordor. I feel like you do, like I was made for magazines. The style of writing, the storytelling, the merger of layout design, photography, and the written word. We all lost something, and we didn’t even manage to save all the trees.

She deserved so much more time on the big, widescreen. I’ll always miss you and that refit bridge… less so the ill fitting early DS9 uniforms.

There’s actually a wonderful vinyl I’ve got of George Martin: Beatles to Bond and Bach. I cannot recommend it enough.

I loved @jasonschreier.bsky.social’s Blood, Sweat, and Pixels (and greatly appreciated the Oxford comma in the title). I just finished his latest, Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment. Sadly, I did not love this one quite as much.

The latest additions to my #CDcollection. I know it isn’t New Years for a little more than a month, but my resolution is to lean more into analog/physical media and hyper-curate my cultural intake. So I’ll be hitting all the used record shops.

I give Sentner the benefit of the doubt. The headline seems yanked from his final paragraph (see photo).

Otherwise, his piece focuses on the Palmer part, as well as Trump’s calling Harris a “shit” VP and recommending threats to bomb other countries.

So who at Politico wrote the headline?

I’m not for rousing the mob, but at what point do we stop criticizing “the media” (or the outlets like @politico.com) for the sane washing and start specifically calling out the individual journalists by name? I would like to know who wrote this headline? The articles at least have bylines.
