Labour recognised the need for early intervention in 1997. It introduced Sure Start centres programme. Tories effectively ended that programme. Imagine what this report would look like if we'd spent the last 28 years solving a problem we already knew we had. Short-termism fails our children

“Slippery slope to oblivion” feels more like a fear-soundbite than a real diagnosis.

Interesting Starmer may or may not be an MP at the next general election but Polanski isn't an MP now - hope they find a safe seat to parachute him into before he starts running the country. He'll have to compete with all the other paper candidates the Green party have been putting up for years.
