Digital Sociology eh? I guess for me that would mean investigating how communities develop online. Going back to the early days of the internet, when one could only communicate with words, it was possible to create a “self” that may have had little connection to one’s real self.

My department chair, who was a reader on my committee, always told grad students to write a page a day.

Elsewhere in here I saw where someone in Pacific Palisades was offering “anything it takes” to get “private” firefighters to protect his home. Now that’s privilege!

Sadly, I was pretty much convinced by 2022 that DOJ cases against Trump would never get to court. Too much foot dragging by DOJ and a successful stall strategy by DJT’s legal team.

Been saying this very thing since 11/6 - glad to see others with the same view.

The meaning of that phrase has mystified me for years - on what metric is it based? By pretty much every commonly used measure the US has fallen behind - except Executive Salaries…#@frankstengal

🤬 Why the world shrinks from confronting Putin is almost a mystery to me.

I don’t think many of them could pass a basic intelligence test!

Do you think Bacot will make it to the big show? I always wondered if he had the “fire in the belly” to compete in the NBA.

Didn’t they used to play in Woolen Gym? When I was there in the mid-80s they inherited Carmichael as the men moved into the Dean Dome.

Biden has funds available to spend, so I’m hoping he will do everything possible to get more weapons to Ukraine, and the he will lift any restrictions on how they are used.

I have been consistently amazed at the grit and tenacity of the Ukrainian people and their fighting forces. I have been dismayed at the dithering of the Western allies. Grit and determination suffer if there are not sufficient arms to take the fight to the opponent.

I think you are right about this. Putin has put himself in a corner - he can only win, or look like the utter fool he is in the eyes of all decent folk. Sitting at a negotiating table lends him a credibility he does not deserve. A victim does not have to negotiate for the return of what was stolen!

So what was the exam - to engineer something weirder than the platypus?

Not sure which would be worse, but I had wondered if he planned to slip in Aileen Cannon…

Sounds like a devil’s bargain to me. As a senior citizen, I might well be a recipient of the promised benefit - but at what cost to my fellow citizens who will lose jobs and struggle to provide for their families? Sorry - that’s a big no from me.

Terrific!

Well, he said he was going to do this before the election - guess voters didn’t care. I have a feeling buyers remorse will set in soon for many…

My sincere commiserations…😊
