Genuine question but what is that $100m spent on? I run community research sites and only worked in academia briefly. I know pharma sponsored research is a different animal but I always thought those F&A rates were insanely high and never had any idea what they were actually going towards.

It will depend on who is sponsoring the trial. Pharmaceutical company sponsored trials are not impacted. There should be contact info in the consent form they signed. They can call their PI or a coordinator to find out more.
