I write nonfiction and produce the Bowerbird podcast (Oscar Wilde and the curated identity; on haitus) as A Scholar of No Importance, fiction as K. Wilder and I wrangle game designers for Unicycle Games as myself.
Here's with 1/3 of the sets of ties done. I'm going to layer this with a gold colored 35 yard skirt and my skull stays to make a death's head moth inspired costume

I like the colors of this Lively Ghosts dress I thrifted but found the length/shape kind of lackluster so with the power of some ribbon and blanket binding I hid some ribbon channels on the inside with the stitches concealed in the black stripes and now I can bustle front and back to my liking!

Dug all this cheap velvet out of my stash for the stupid bardcore joust dress because the fabric offerings in the burbs are grim. Shout out to my previous burlesque-adjacent life for ensuring I always have some shiny nonsense around. Just need to stabilize these so they aren't stretch anymore.

Helping a friend clean out a family storage unit (this consisted of some heavy lifting but for me, mostly sitting on the floor identifying and dating various pieces of china tea ware) and have been rewarded for this side quest with a huge piece of 90s upholstery fabric.

[testing the layout on the belt banner with chalk] I...made a stamp??? I've never made anything like this before?!

I loved every minute of both days of #warningtothecurious but my favorite workshop was almost certainly the hour long mini game jam we did with ABS. Not only was this the most confident I felt participating all weekend (I don't have a history or literature degree but I AM a ttrpg writer) [1/3]

I looked really cute demoing a game online at FOMO Con.

By the power of caffeine and medicated topical to numb the tendonitis in my right hand, I have cut FOUR PAIRS OF PANTS today. Now to make dinner and spend the rest of my night watching absolutely trash TV and icing my hand. Tomorrow, I'll begin turning these into pants.

Pre-heatwave balcony garden haul. And from the look of things, I'll need to go out and pick even more tomatoes tomorrow.

I sense a big stir-fry in my future.

The block printing print workshop I coordinated at work was a huge hit. Attendees were happy, the teacher was happy, cleanup and breakdown was a breeze. My piece was a little wonky in the end but not bad for a first attempt! Hope to book more in the future!

2 years ago I bought the full length Target skeleton banner everyone bought to make stays out of the ribcage section and I was trying to figure out what to do with the rest of it. Adding it to these damaged black stays because I have everything else to make a deathshead moth faire costume.

Yessss found one of the elusive Garashir coffee date pins at work while moving some pin inventory around.

First harvest from my garden today: some of my Experimental Farm Network perennial kale, which I added to butter beans, sweet potato vegan sausage, CSA onions, and nutritional yeast on GF bowties. Hoping I trimmed my kale correctly 😅

Working from bed with my laptop on my chest because I couldn't possibly disturb my old man. Eventually I'll run out of laptop-friendly tasks and have to move but for now I'm just listening to him snoring away.

Garden update: despite not having any flowers, the bee planters are attracting friends and it looks like all but one of the strawberry plants pulled through the transplant process.
I also re organized the community tomato seedlings. Literally knee deep in them.

Study hours on the balcony, which grows greener by the day.

Garden update 3/23: tomatoes are looking like real tomatoes! Eggplants are going crazy, marigolds look great. Herbs are struggling but starting them indoors is always kind of a trial. Peppers continue to be hit or miss.

Thrifted a gorgeous Anthropologie dress this week, a rare find in my size. Of course, it was made by someone with no concept of a fat body so the fit in the top was atrocious. But an hour and two darts later, I never want to take it off. I had to take in 6 in total under the arms and NOWHERE ELSE.

Aaagh, sorry, my prompt to remind me to do Alt Text has turned itself off. See below.

Hung up my salvage-quality antiques (I believe most of these were found just kind of loose in a shed by a coworker). The box was very mixed and I can only guess at the ages of pieces and most of them are heavily damaged or stained or missing bits. Added some of my repro antique postcards for color.

Thinned the seedlings today and made a tray of patio eggplant and then A LOT of mixed container-friendly tomatoes. These are separate from the ones I grew for my friends and will be put out by my door to give away to my neighbors, with growing instructions 💚

I think all my strawberries made it! New leaves open on almost all the transplants! 🍓 Also, couldn't get a good picture but the pollinators in the top of the planter are starting to come up as well!

I love this point in the process where the plants are bigger every time I've gone in to rotate the laundry (which probably helps with keeping the grow shelves warm). These are my marigolds (grown as trap crop/pest repellent/edible/pretty) with their adorable spotted mature leaves.
