Staying busy!
We cannot allow this to become normal. The only path forward is to stand up together.

I am proud of the statement authored by national leaders of health, faith, & civic associations. Across all sectors of US society, climate leadership protects lives & communities.

Beautiful, terrible writing about this tragedy.

Defunding the monitoring, preparation, and response infrastructure is madness.

NEW RESEARCH: 89% of Americans recognize that heat waves and extreme heat affect people’s health. Among Republicans, 75% now say that climate change drives extreme weather, a 17-point surge since 2021!

Really cool findings highlighted in this @grist.org article. Presenting climate change thru binary data (did the lake freeze or not) rather than gradual increases in temperature is much more effective at communicating the reality of climate impacts.

I won't lower myself to listing reasons why someone might wear jerseys for a team they don't cheer for. A hat is not sufficient evidence to pull this man over, let alone kidnap him.

They illegally renditioned 100s to a gulag for similarly flimsy reasons & want to be able to do this to anyone.

Our @ecoamerica.bsky.social research in the US found that among ppl whose religion is "an important or "the most important" aspect of their life, strong majorities support climate action.

Some assume that the most religious ppl universally deny climate change. That's just not true!

Super interesting research!

Among parents:
"a ‘U’-shaped or ‘J’-shaped association between religiosity & climate beliefs and behaviours" So a little bit of religion reduces climate views, more increases it.

But among their children: "little relationship observed"

This really sums it up. There is no negotiation with this. There is no meaningful ideology. The motivation really is just dominance & suffering of enemies.

The scary thing is that it isn't limited to Trump; far too many leaders & law enforcement have shown that they are aligned with this nihilism.

I advocate for how great Prince George's is all the time, but the flag could use some work

New polls from @ecoamerica.bsky.social show that Americans are opposed to fossil fuel extraction, understanding it will pollute air & water, harming health.

This includes a significant majority of Republicans under 45!

What could go wrong?

Seems like we need to remind politicians that this is not a good strategy way too often.

Thank you to @eleanornorton.bsky.social for your leadership on climate & health and discussing these issues with us. We are seeing the impacts on DC children, families, & communities every day. Especially lower income communities and people of color.

We take action on climate to protect health.

Ready to visit Capitol Hill to talk about with our Rep about how health is affected by climate change right now. Sharing perspectives from pediatric infectious disease, family medicine, and public health that serve families in DC.

My commitment to raising a bicultural kid went out the window when my wife told me about the Dominican version of the tooth fairy. Not submitting my toddler to that nightmare fuel.
