It's like they came up with the perfectly designed least interesting game concept to be the last reveal. I thought the whole point of the Titanfall love was the movement, but this new one seemed...slow?

Maybe I will force myself to finish Clair Obscur before the year is over. Been in Act 2 for months and I just can't quite grasp yet how it's beating out these massive, expensive, hyped games. This is literally the "love letter to Kojima" award show! The fact Geoff didn't rig it for his boy... wild

Blue Prince robbed smh

(I get why, but I've also bounced off Clair Obscur despite being my kind of game. Was really pulling for Dispatch or Blue Prince)

Oh you broke ranks and squandered your politically advantageous position on the government shutdown, and the audacious gambit resulted in the most obvious outcome imaginable? You really are a Democrat.

Maybe it'd come off as a little too much Bioshock "ooooo look you did as you were told". But part of why I was less negative on the game as a whole was thinking, "hmm, did this unfold because of how I played, or not?" If that's not the case, then the game is weaker as a whole.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt that it's maybe the choices you make that determine whether or not the game grapples with your complicity, but it really just doesn't.

For an experience that runs long, it would have benefited from *any* exploration of the player's engagement with the tasks.

Reading the people who agree with the sentiment that they shouldn't/couldn't, it feels very much like a "I can't talk about games to people in my age group without feeling judged," which is such an odd and insecure lense to assess any medium. Doubly so for something you ostensibly enjoy or create.

Would I recommend it? To a narrow, narrow, narrow group of people, at best. Do I regret playing it? No.

You can check the Steam new releases for a given week and see games centered around *doing* worse. With little to no grander intent behind it. Baffling discourse around the game as whole.

I'm not exactly a film person, so I can't directly compare it to anything specifically... but this is the kind of harrowing you'd expect from a film that deliberately uses striking, grotesque imagery for its storytelling.

And it works! I haven't felt so uncomfortable, so actively uneasy, in years.
