"Digital Artichoke" - This is an arty piece I produced a while back from a photograph I took in 2016 in a country houses walled garden - I think it fits perfectly with today's #BlueSkyArtShow theme #Jagged

A #Sideways view of the House of the Nuns, Chichén Itzá, Mexico - taken in 2012 while on another one of our amazing #travel adventures. This time inspired by the work of Adela Breton and her collection at Bristol Museum #BlueSkyArtshow trowelblazers.com/2014/04/27/a...

We try to #GetOutside to explore as many heritage sites as possible. This was a fantastic hillfort walk we did at Scratchbury Camp in Wiltshire earlier this year #BlueSkyArtShow #Archaeology

Had a #narrow escape from this giant beastie this morning - trapped in a funicular lift with me at a resort in #Corfu. Its eyes were astonishing! #BlueSkyArtShow #insect #nature

There are many things that bring #Joy to my life, but the greatest of all are my family and friends, and especially our grandchildren - here's a beautiful picture shared by one of my sons when his son was first born ♥️ #BlueSkyArtShow #Family #Grandparents

Archaeological evidence close to home.....sadly not the remains of Roman wall paintings, but layers of painted decoration under the tiles in our bathroom that's being refurbished! #Archaeology

The #vibrant pink flowers of the Japanese meadowsweet in my garden proved to be the main attraction for this equally #vibrant marmalade hover fly. My 📷 #BlueSkyArtShow #nature #photography

An amazing view of Saint Mark's Basilica which lies #underneath the shadow of Campanile di San Marco, Venice. It's distinctive silver-grey lead covered domes sit in in sharp contrast to the myriad terracotta roofs that lie beyond. My 📷 June 2018 #BlueSkyArtShow #Italy #Venice

Dramatic light licks each of the features of this colossal stone head, whose enigmatic eyes once stared out at Sennacherib's palace at Ninevah and then thousands of years later at the British Museum. My 📷 2018 ##BlueSkyArtShow #LightAndShadow

And for my last stop I made sure to take in my favourite Oak tree that was once in the garden of the Rectory ....the hedge line being still being visible in the grass as an archaeological feature!

St Thomas a Becket Church, where if you look really carefully at the stonework to the right-hand side of the porch you can see a scratch sundial, sometimes called a ‘mass dial’ and dating anywhere between 1100 to 1600 AD.

Today I also made sure to clock all the other hints we have as to previous land use, now preserved in modern street names as well as visiting the oldest extant building we have .....

The hunting lodge is referenced by Historic England as being situated behind this pub....but there is no archaeological evidence to support this! Makes a good excuse to visit the pub though - as I did with Bristol Radical History Group many years ago ! www.brh.org.uk/site/events/...

I took in King's Lane, along which the body of King Edmund was reputedly carried towards Glastonbury Abbey after he was murdered in his hunting lodge here in Pucklechurch in AD946....but which I also know skirts around the medieval manor house.

Imagine thousands of years of wind and rain carving out the surface #texture of this standing stone, which is part of the Great Circle at Stanton Drew. Now look at what the lichen has added to it too. #Archaeology #BlueSkyArtShow
