Center left. I don't recognize my country anymore.
I'm starting to think that the vote to release the Epstein files was a mistake.

The caveats it defined letting the admin redact info about ongoing investigations is open permission to strip anything they want.

Dems have to keep touching the hot stove a few more times before they'll get it.

Total vibe right here. So true.

Right, the truth has always been that Trump has been playing 1D chess, and claims that he's playing 4D chess only brings you down with him.

Kelly was right of course, but this idea that "I'm for X, so therefore my opponent must oppose X" is not an honest view of a topic.

The right does it all the time. They want small government? We must want big government. They want to save babies? We must want to kill them.

That's not a good comparison though. The opposite of what he said isn't a literal negation of each point, but instead something like the military depends on orders being followed, and there needs to be a presumption of legality by the soldiers lest we turn our military into thousands of law clerks.

The Onion has to reach so deep these days for obviously fake news.

There's a lot of "why didn't it stop there" moments with Trump, and his comments about McCain getting captured is right near the top.

It revealed early on that he doesn't understand basics about service to one's country, and more fundamentally how he views the world from the perspective of a child.

Right, that was the option on the table in 2016. MAGA, or moderate. And a bunch of people said "I don't care" when they didn't vote for Clinton. For shame.

True, but Trump's mental decline is never the leading story with him. When the choice is attacking Venezuela or his mental decline, the former takes priority.

The fact that the bill has a carve out for basically whatever they want makes the files meaningless. Let's just release the Democrats in the files and move on. I'd say maybe the left will vote in 2028, but they'll just deep throat the propaganda again and point out all the Democrats in the files.

Ken Burns in my experience has walked this line flawlessly so many times before. He makes sure to tell as many sides to the story as he can including the bad ones, while also not falling into the leftist trap of viewing the world through an exclusively cynical lens.

Obama, Clinton, Biden, Kamala is the most boring neolib lineup you could image. With radical actions like healthcare, $12 minimum wage proposal, CHIPS / IRA / Infrastructure... In terms of policy there is no debate. Oh I know - cut taxes again!

The pendulum of American politics will swing back towards the Democrats in 2028, there really isn't much to do.

But if Trump's economy killing policies / child raping / anti-Americanism isn't obvious to the American electorate anyways, then it won't really matter. We'll just do it again.

Agree 100%.

"Google put a black owned label on businesses, so I had to vote for the fascist pedophile". Like, a little perspective would be nice. I'm annoyed by the left too but holy shit your answer is Trump? Yikes.

This story makes me sad. It's such a perfect encapsulation of this time - man struggling with work and a fading future, captured by a fascist movement, experiences retaliation from the community, and commits suicide by going too far with substances. What a waste.
