The Memorial to the crew of ten American Airmen who died in a crash here on 2nd February 1944. The US Air Force Liberator Bomber "Ruth Less" was returning damaged from a mission over Europe. The spot is on the top of the South Downs above Willingdon, Eastbourne. A service in their memory is held here each year on the afternoon of Remembrance Day. As well as many local people there are some representatives from USA. " We shall Remember them".
