First time watch tonight, Interview with the Vampire (1994). I like how this emphasized the sadness and loneliness of vampirism. Kirsten Dunst gave probably the best performance, she was fantastic.

Organizing by genre is so annoying which is why I must do it. It’s a challenge I must overcome. Even if my arrangement is fairly arbitrary and only makes sense to me

Watched Bad Santa 2 tonight since I couldn’t remember much about it from my first viewing. And I see why lol, it’s unnecessary and not very memorable. A few good laughs and it certainly could have been worse but it just doesn’t compare to the first one

I watched Bad Santa (2003) twice today. First the unrated cut that I’ve seen many times, then decided to check out the directors cut for the first time. It will also be the last time lol. The directors cut is far worse, plenty of good jokes are cut out and the darker tone doesn’t work as well

First time watch tonight: Miracle on 34th Street (1947). Not exactly what I thought it would be like, charming little Christmas film.

I watched The Skeleton Key (2005) last night and I’m pretty mixed on it. Good performances and a nice setting with some pretty decent ideas. But outside of the mystery it’s not that engaging on a moment to moment basis because the actual horror elements are pretty lame. Kind of standard 2000s horror

First time watch tonight, L.A. Confidential (1997). Really enjoyed it! Plot gets a little convoluted after a while but it has a great cast and solid dialogue & characters

Last film in my little Hitchcock marathon for now, North By Northwest (1959). I really liked it. Great classic mistaken identity story, maybe a bit too long but I can clearly see the influence this had on many future thrillers

My last purchase from this years Black Friday sales has arrived. One of the most obvious satires I’ve ever seen that some people apparently don’t know is a satire!

A couple new Blu-ray’s added to the collection today. One befitting the season and the other… not so much lol

Only seen TWBB once and looking forward to revisiting it. And Bad Santa will definitely be a watch this month as it often is in December for me

Just watched The Birds (1963) for the first time. Honestly I wasn’t looking forward to it as much as some of Hitchcocks other films because it’s lacking the psychological thriller aspect that I usually enjoy from him. And unfortunately I ended up not being a fan of this one

I enjoyed the performances and the establishment of this setting with our lead stuck in one place but I was less invested once the mystery really kicked in. There just isn’t much to it. There’s really never any doubt and it plays out a bit too safely

Second Hitchcock film of the day with Rear Window (1954). The memes are completely true and that made it quite funny at times.

“Ugh I have so many problems! Grace Kelly loves me and wants to sleep with me but she’s too hot and rich for me!” Hahaha

But seriously, overall thought it was decent

The eventual reveals are extremely convoluted, but the last act does present some interesting ideas and previous events are reframed to such a degree that I would be willing to give it another shot someday now that I know what it’s really like

Foolishly I’ve only seen one Alfred Hitchcock film until now (and you can probably guess which one)

That’s changing as I now begin going through more of his filmography and I will be sharing my thoughts as I go. First up tonight was Rope from 1948
