I think the most absurd is the Delancey Street Garage which happens to be on top of the Delancey/Essex station complex and is therefore signed as a park and ride.

This one in the Bronx is really funny because the parking lot is 1300 feet from the nearest subway station (Bronx Park East on the 2)

However, most of the time what happened in New York is that decades after a station had opened, the city decided to buy some adjacent property and build a parking lot. For example, Canarsie - Rockaway Parkway on the L.

So first up, we have the only traditional purpose-built park and ride: Grant Avenue. This station was built in 1956 and featured a massive parking crater from the start. This sort of thing is common in a lot of cities but it’s unique for New York.
