You have to engage in overt voter suppression by doing things like detaining everyone who isn't Snow White.
Just ignore that they are showing up with 2 forms of ID and detain them for 24 hours knowing full well that they are all citizens and it is brazenly illegal.

By 2008, the profit split that used to be 50/50 had fallen to 84/16 (dividends/reinvestment).
Reinvestment is less than 1/3 of what it was 40 years ago.
That pre-dates the 2008 crash. After which, 85% of the gains during the recovery went to the 1%.

There are a whole lot of reasons, both structural and cultural, why Americans don't do protests very well.
First is just geography. The US is a large country. France is ~80% the size of Texas but has a population 1/5 the size of the US.
