That's the kind of thing you'd expect Lee Valley to bring in, but it seems they don't have any perpetual calendars. They do have these neat Japanese notepads made from thinly planed logs, which I had to share as I'm sure someone viewing this will appreciate 'em.

Speaking of dancing, what an album, Sharon Jones was so good:

John Zorn's A Dreamer's Christmas is a cozy little music box of an album. Mike Patton appears and is honestly maybe a little too Mike Patton on it, but presumably that's what he was hired for, and it's still a great album.

Anne and Japan go farther back than that! In short, the original book (in translation) was added to the school curriculum in 1952 and wound up becoming and continuing to be extremely popular, popular enough that there are multiple anime adaptations (including one just this past year)

Yeah, the USGS estimates 9-27 gallons for handwashing, so if you wash dishes once a day, over ten years you save 25,000 to 90,000 gallons of water - and the energy to heat it - by using a dishwasher. Probably wind up using significantly less soap, too.

You have to do this sort of thing on ships and aircraft for the voyage data recorder. Just lean into it and start wearing a captain's hat all the time

An energy star certified dishwasher uses no more than 3.2 gallons per cycle. Some are closer to 2 gallons for their primary cycle. Modern faucets typically have a flow rate of 1.5 to 2.2 gallons per minute. Ergo, two minutes running the tap typically uses more water than the dishwasher would.

This deserves a better quality (and non-sweat-shop) shirt! Using Gildan or similar doesn't actually save much money, and it supports a really awful company
