Interested in the cell Biology of phagocytosis, phagosome maturation, lysosomes, phosphoinositides, and more.
The amount of time we spend writing letters is ridiculous. We need to reduce this burden. How do we get this message across to all professional schools (medical, dental, graduate, etc!)???

PIKfyve inhibition glues protrudin (grayscale, top row), an ER transmembrane protein, to lysosomes. This disturbs the ER morphology and dynamics. If the FYVE domain of protrudin (bottom row) is mutated, these rings go away and ER morphology recovers.

As macrophages engulf many particles, as shown by this scanning EM image, eventually they reach a limit and arrest their appetite for further phagocytosis. But how do they encode this appetite fatigue? That's the key question that we tried to answer this work.
