Breaking: In response to a @centerforbiodiv.bsky.social lawsuit, the Glowing Indian Paintbrush was today listed as "endangered" and protected under the federal Endangered Species Act.

12 of the plant's 13 populations have been destroyed, leaving just one living on 28 acres in southern New Mexico.

The pseudanthium of Rhodoleia henryi (#Hamamelidaceae) “recreates” a flower via zygomorphic, peripheral flowers that have enlarged corollas. This species is from subtropical China. I suspect it is bird-pollinated. #pseudanthia #botany 🌾🧪🌱

Another 2024 highlight now! While recording for the #urbanflora, there have been a fair few notable records this year. One of these came in the form of two odd clovers - Reversed Clover (Trifolium resupinatum) & Egyptian Clover (Trifolium alexandrinum) overtaking a field margin at Dudley. #botany
