I feel like they accomplished this with Skeleton Crew which I recently rewatched and was even more delighted by it than the first go through. Goonies, but Star Wars! But yeah, keep doing that.

I’d say any list of the Star Trek films that doesn’t start with those at 1 & 2 is plain wrong. You *might* be able to convince me First Contact could slot in at 2.

If I remember right you’ve been saying something similar to this for a few years now.

I’m not here to judge! But most of the time the best music in the entire movie happens over the closing credits. It’s also really important to acknowledge the amount of labor that goes into these films. And finally for the best movies the end credit music puts a perfect period to the scenario.

If you want to be serious about cinema, you really need to watch all of the credits every single time. That Peter Gabriel song lasts the entire time, nearly 8 minutes!

Definitely one of the most fun. And almost certainly the most French (ifykyk).

$4m in 2026 money would still be considered “low budget.” Basically anything under $10m is low budget. $1m or below is “micro-budget.” $10m-$40m is “mid-budget.” Everything else is “big budget.” Budgetbudgetbudgetbudgetbudgetbudgeg.

I know I said these are weird movies but I also really love them! Alphaville is a particular favorite.

Alphaville — 1965
Dogtooth — 2009

I see people are recommending “weird” movies. This one is very weird. Here are some more:

Playtime (1967)
The Color of Pomegranates
Meshes of the Afternoon
Dogtooth
Kinds of Kindness

It wasn’t a command, it was a request. They even said “please”!

Accessibility requests aren’t annoying. In fact, ensuring accessibility for all almost always results in better conditions for able bodied people.

It’s a constant struggle between “enduring Dan Akroyd’s very uncomfortable blackface” and “most brutal mainstream American takedown of capitalism this side of There Will Be Blood.”

Great, now we get to anticipate Barron putting lasers on sharks.
