Just put a GE heat pump washer / dryer combo in my house, and it’s blowing me away with how energy efficient it is. On the loads I’ve run so far, it’s used around 1kWh for washing and drying. The old units used around 8kWh for the same load.

When it gets cold, Massachusetts gets dirty. We're burning a ton of oil to keep our power plants moving and our lights on.

I'm impressed at how well the NREL PVWatts tool predicted the output of my solar array during its first year. The month-to-month error is larger, but the annual prediction was only off by 19kWh with two days left in November.

Any air quality nerds here? The NOx measurement on my outdoor air quality monitor went bonkers last night. Other NOx monitors in the area didn’t show anything — perhaps sensor failure or a local source? AFAIK, no one was near the sensor last night.
