One of the worst effects of influencers I’ve seen on younger people is this idea that six figure salaries are much more common than they actually are and that you’re essentially destitute if you make less.

It’s also clear that SCOTUS as currently constituted is way more willing to allow GOP presidents to do this than Dem presidents. Biden did try to just forgive student loan debt and he wasn’t allowed. Maybe he should have defied the court order, but that’s not a good road to start down.

i have said this before but forty years of being on the absolute margins of american politics has inculcated some bad habits on the american left, among them a tendency to see left-wing politics as bohemian counter-culture more than an actual politics. west fits squarely within that.
