I do think even the most frustrating fights in this game will feel like a dance once you start to understand them, but that fight *especially* feels like a dance once you're able to keep up with her

This really is a fight that grabs you by the shoulders and says "You WILL learn how to use Hornet's insane and precise mobility Or Else"

If you're putting anything in your game, absolutely anything, never take what it is for granted - use norms and standards to betray expectations, use mechanics and environments to tell stories, use side quests to make the player do something interesting and novel. There are no rules, just tools.

The massive level of quality and polish and craft and love that went into this game aside, you can't walk ten paces without tripping into some sort of cool new enemy, area, NPC, sidequest, item, or some other detail that brings the whole thing to life. Just a cornucopia of memorable experiences.

I have played a good handful of ultra compelling games that have left a massive thumbprint on the way I approach my craft, but Silksong easily clears all of them in terms of how much Good Shit is crammed in there. No idea how they did all this in only 7 years.

Do you ever see the ruins of an ancient kingdom and go "damn these guys look raw as fuck, it's a shame I'll never get to fight them" and you can just feel the devs smirking at you from across time and space

[walks into a new area and the game throws 8+ super cool and unique new enemies at me] oh that's what they meant

I wonder what you would call the opposite of a victory lap
