It peaked for me when The First Pokemon movie came out.

First, I cried tears of joy because of that Jigglypuff cutaway. And then we cried tears of sadness when Ash died. What a rollercoaster of emotion!

I was there for the first gen games, but it was the anime that brought me into the Pokemon-craze. Commercial breaks tested your Pokemon silhouette recognition, and the Poke-rap helped you learn all their names …. “and there’s 1015 more to see”! The anime was so rad, they made Pokémon yellow!
